1) If you're going to use fonts, then try to hide the selection of the font and letter from the developer. Scrolling down through the font list to get to the MG fonts is not a fast solution, and since there are five fonts, having to cycle through them to find a particular icon is also time-consuming. So I would suggest just having the icon list, then figuring out what the font and letter is from there.
2) Having to do the same thing a second time to select the other state of the icon is, repeating half-of #1 all over again
3) To include the fonts with the project, I have to do what exactly? I installed the fonts on my Mac, but they don't show in the simulator.

Check out http://mobgui.com/doc.php?docId=23. There's a button to select both icons at once (and you can see the icons in the list)
You also can click the 'Font' labels to the left of the dropdown font selectors - this will cycle through fonts that contain 'icons' in the name, so you don't have to scroll through the entire list of fonts on your system!
