Your answer raises many new questions. How do you know that RR agrees? What exactly does "stay tuned" mean? Can we expect a new release of MobGUI soon? Did RunRev buy MobGUI? Has RunRev told you that MobGUI will soon no longer be needed? I'm sure that everyone in this thread would be very eager to know what they can expect for the money they already paid. If you can help them with any information, please do.

Kind regards,

Mark
Mark,
as you know, people on the "Developer Program" have a NDA so ... we can't say more than "Stay Tuned" on future releases of LiveCode ... there will be many new ... ;)

That's all !

Mark,

I wasn't responding directly to the issues about MobGUI, I was responding to some of the comments about the IDE, behaviors, and performance. Sorry for the confusion. I have no idea what the future of MobGUI will be.

As mentioned, I'm under NDA so can't say more about LiveCode itself. But RR is aware of the things that were mentioned and are making many nice improvements to the product.

I've purchased mobGUI and getting a bit nervous. Just wondering, so is this the MO of developers around here? I'm asking because I'm new and decloaked just a few weeks ago and just getting an idea of Livecode and RR.

So what happened to the developer? It looks to me they've happily acquired my payment and even reminded me that I would need to pay yearly for it via the mobGUI interface. To date, I've sent 3 e-mail messages of which I've yet to receive an acknowledgement. I sent the e-mails about two weeks ago.

Just a suggestion, I believe RR should review and verify vendors before they are allowed to sell. I have other items I'd like to purchase and would like to know if this is kind of service that is to be expected. If it is, then it will help me to fine tune my decisions. I just need to know.

For example, I'm looking at purchasing some of the mergExt externals. Are they reliable? Will they reply to my e-mail or will I be stuck if something doesn't work or will I be ignored?

Anyway, overall, I am impressed with LC but have yet to really start creating an app where I will most likely start to learn its limitations in relation to my own Livecode knowledge.

Cheers!

The author of MobGUI is either working with RunRev to bundle the product directly into LiveCode or he has run off with our money. I prefer to believe the former as my experience of him is that he is professional and ethical. If he is working at RunRev I can understand his silence but the lack of a response by RR in addressing the concerns of the many people who purchased the product from them is troubling.

Codemonster, i hope MobGUI instance is kind of accidence. I'm using some helpers with LC and didn't have any problems. Most of vendors are very helpful and interested in fighting with your as customer problems. For sure very believable and proven are Zryip (DataGrid Helper) and Ruslan (Valentina DB).

I hope you will not remember that in few days or weeks. Kepka positive thinking ahead.

Best regards,
Marek

@Marek,

Thank you for posting your experience that it's working well for you. The problems I've had can most likely be attributed to the fact that I am still very new to LC and RR. However, it would increase confidence in the product *if* an acknowledgement for customers such as myself were granted considering money was exchanged for the product.

I'm familiar with Valentina DB from my RealBasic/RealStudio days so I can vouch for them as well. I have confidence that if I e-mailed them, I would receive an e-mail reply with a possible solution. At a minimum, I would get a "Thank you, we got your question" message reply. However, I didn't see that from mobGUI and so it did fire off a few alarm bells.

My goal is not to bash the developers at mobGUI as it appears it has some really useful features, but rather to clarify and find out more info so I know what to expect the next time around.

Howdy folks!
I haven't at all yet participated in the mobile development side of LC and have nothing in the way of specific answers for you... but I can add that I have purchased quite a few of the third party apps and have never been disappointed with any of them. I'm not sure what's going on with MobGUI support currently, but it certainly appears to be the one and only exception to what I have ever experienced.

Also, it appears that the developer is or has been working on some improvements for the product fairly recently (Oct. 11th) according to the message that was posted to the usemail list. Here is a link to the Nabble version of that discussion: http://tinyurl.com/c3waroh

Chins up! ...whatever is going on, I'd guess that RunRev will find a way to take care of you as required.

Regards,
Doc

Hi,

I wrote to the developer and got a very quick reply. He tells me he answers support requests on a daily basis and I believe him. Clearly, the answer to the subject line of this thread is a sound "yes".

If you didn't get a reply from him, I suggest you give him a week before you try again and if you still don't get a reply make sure to check your spam box and whitelist splash21.com. I have noticed that particularly gmail's spam filter finds many false positives.

Kind regards,

This good to hear and trust that it was just a messaging issue for others as well.

Again, for me, it really is a matter of understanding how the whole LC and RR market works. If support will take a week before I get a reply then that would be good to know so I can plan for it.

Cheers!

The problem appears to be unique to this developer. In my experience all the other third party developers are responsive and quick to support their products. MobGUI, on the other hand, has gone dark.

Just to be clear: MobGUI hasn't gone dark for me. I contacted the developer and got a reply. Nothing dark here.

That's good. However John hasn't appeared here to re-assure those who have bought the product. A simple response from him to this thread could do wonders :)

Gerry,

I don't know if John is a regular forum visitor. I think the best way to contact him is to use the contact form on his website and to ask only real, technical questions.

Those who come to this dedicated forum are likely to expect that support will be available here.

Jacque,

That's a very bad and wrong assumption. Usually, support can be acquired at the product website, not at some kind of forum that's not maintained by the company responsible for that software. Even RunRev doesn't provide support through this forum and the mailing list.
