I offered to host a Zoom meeting for July and have had Zero responses.
We need to get the meetings going again.

Really. Great 'throw-away' line, but contextually a bit sparse.

1. To whom is this addressed?

2. What would these meetings be about?

2.1. Well, Yes, obviously LiveCode: but that is an incredibly broad topic.

2.2. What sort of level of user would this be aimed at?

I think the SOCAL group has been around for a while, and I believe Richard Gaskin sort of runs it. They know who they are.

Many people seem to have forgotten who they are under present circumstances.

Bill Vlahos and I are co-founders of the SoCal LiveCode group. So Clarence's note is well placed in the appropriate forum.

And yes, we know who we are, though we're all still kinda discovering who we really are, aren't we?

That's more than just a play on words. The pandemic's effects are pervasive. Whether your family is directly affected, or you're just dealing with the tedium of ordinary things like the complexity of just going to the grocery store, the pandemic gives us all plenty of time to reflect on values and priorities.

As for our regional group, as I'd stated earlier I had believed the initiative to have telemeetings was good, and perhaps well addressed by participating in LiveCode's monthly meetings.

If there's sufficient interest in having a second Zoom meeting just for our group I'm game. But of course in-person meetings remain impractical for the foreseeable future, I'd guess about another 12 to 18 months if past pandemics are a guide

The mothership Zoom meetings have had light attendance. Perhaps that's a function of covering the entire world.
Maybe regional Zooms would be better.
I'd certainly be up for popping into an online SoCal Zoom meeting such as Clarence offered.
I don't have much LC stuff to say though.

Having taught online classes with ZOOM this summer I can state (at least as far as 5 - 16 year old Bulgarians go)
that fairly quickly, they and I got a bit cheesed-off re this sort of class.

Whichever way you cut things, staring at small video images of your pupils/students/teacher is just not
the same thing as the realthing: and everybody becomes stilted and lacking in spontaneity.

This coming 3 weeks I shall be doing online LiveCode classes with folk from Bulgaria, Haiti and the Philippines
(a 14 hour time-zone spread) and "we shall see what we shall see."

I find that you always have something interesting to contribute to our user group meetings.
Our group always has some interesting topics to discuss.
As our user group knows, we are not doing any formal training in our meetings. We ask questions that we have and look for contributions from the rest of our group. We invite newcomers to introduce themselves and then we may do a demonstration of what LiveCode is and what it can do.
We also do a roundtable of self-introductions and we present questions that we may have in order to gain inspiration from the other users.
In this case, we won't have to eat or drink to distract us. I think, as a group, we have interesting topics and questions that can keep us busy.

Richard, can you post to the Meetup site, an invitation, and questionnaire to get some input for a time and date so that we see what the interest for such a Zoom session might be?

I think we have at least as much relevant traffic here.
