Artificial Intelligence FYI

I imagine many here have seen this. Stanford is offering a number of courses on line free this fall 2011. Two of note are an Intro to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

As we move the interface of our technology closer to wider non-technically astute human capabilities and behavior, what we create under the hood has to be smarter and more perceptive. Since LC is a UI driven environment, and also lends itself to the human presentation of very large data stores, I thought there might be interest here. At last count something like 130,000 people have signed up for the course, so it also implies some common pervasive memes will be introduced to a much wider audience. It looks like a horizontal survey style course of the current state of the art in the many areas that have been thrown together in the "AI" bucket.

It was an online course, so I would look for it in iTunesU. Either in the podcast section or via the new app.

Stanford says,

Enrollment is closed. We hope to offer more online classes in the future, and you can watch the lectures for this course on youtube.
