Interesting how some of the twinkly baubles are GIF images and some of them are buttons:

Aha: so the buttons use the animated GIFs (Clever stuff):

Yes, I prefer buttons instead of GRAPHICS (cough, cough) to display images economically.

And why (cough cough) should buttons be more 'economical' than graphics?

They are not more economical than graphics, but images are tiled inside of graphics, so you need to size them as the source image.
That does not apply to buttons.

Just so.
But you can have a graphic of whatever shape you like, while that is not so with buttons.
