Program to convert a windows screensaver to an separate application
Very off topic, but does anyone know of a program that allows a windows screensaver to run as a separate windowed application.
I've tried several search engines and also simply converted *.scr to *.exe but failed so far...
Thanks,
Glenn

After that you can embed it in a LiveCode standalone and view it via a media player.

Thanks, nothing is ever straight forward...!
I did come across that website as well but the screensaver I was interested in running in a window is this: https://www.weyhmueller.org/software/index_en.php , ie its an application that runs as a screensaver rather than it being an avi.

OK, so the "Clock" widget does not offer enough options for you?

Hi Klaus,
have you seen Oliver's Bahnhofs Uhr, its amazing, it simulates the German Station clock exactly, even with the 'pausierendem Sekundenzeiger' and loch Sekundenzeiger. (I did ask Oliver some years ago if he might be able to re-configure his clock as an exe but sadly...

Hi Glenn,
thank you, I am very glad to hear that you like my screensaver!
At the moment it is not possible to get it running in a separate window, although it is not a big deal from the technical point of view (just like it has already been done in the settings window).
I have already thought about creating a desktop version of the clock, but I did not have the time yet to start this project. Since Microsoft has declared that screensavers are deprecated now (and might be completely removed in future Windows versions) I would be very sad as well to see the clock vanish in history.
I will have a look at your (our) wish as soon as I have some spare time left.
Kind regards,
Oliver Weyhmüller
)
I know this might sound a bit bonkers but its one of a handful of apps that stops me transferring to a mac...
don't laugh, but at one stage I thought I might be able to re-create something similar in LC using Bernd's code: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=34911 but it's way beyond my skill level!
Regards,
Glenn

... although just thought, having a mac would solve the problem, theoretically it would be possible to run the windows screen saver in a windows virtual machine window.... seems a bit overkill though to get a mac just for a windows screensaver....!

Hi Glenn,
I made a "swiss railway clock" (actually for Rolf Kocherhans who is swiss and he ok'eyd it)
https://livecodeshare.runrev.com/stack/978/railwayclock
Or you can access it from "Sample Stacks" from within LC.
It does stop the seconds hand at the full minute for 1 second...
Now If I only understood what exactly you want. Is it a screensaver?.
Maybe you can make the railway clock a standalowe application and use it as screen saver.
Kind regards
Bernd

Oh my gosh, I was at that airport once while changing flights and couldn't take my eyes off that clock! It's amazing. I recorded a 2-minute video take home with me, but you really have to see the whole thing to appreciate it. It's the most incredible clock I've ever seen, so creative. I too wish there was a Mac version of the screensaver.
