Push notifications?
Is there a way to receive some sort of notification that a new post has appeared in the forum?
This is one advantage for the use-list, the only one in my opinion, that if I leave my mail client open, or watch the finder, I can see new posts as they come up.

Re: Push notifications?
Hi Craig,
I think that you can sign on on a subForum level to receive a notification
choose a subforum and look at the bottom of the page.
Click on "Subscribe Forum"
(although this looks as you are already subscribed you are not if it looks like the image above)
Kind regards
Bernd

Bernd.
Hi.
I never even looked down there, but anyway it seems I am "subscribed" to all subForums.
Do you get some sort of notification when a new post comes up? For example, this one?

Re: Push notifications?
Craig,
Although it looks like you are subcribed (the checkbox is ticked) you are not.
Click it and it changes.
I am subscribed to one subforum and the checkbox is not ticked and the text is changed to "unsubscribe"
Kind regards
Bernd

Re: Push notifications?
Bernd.
You think THAT is confusing???
When I uncheck the box, I get a dialog telling me that I am now subscribed. When I check it, I get a dialog telling me I am unsubscribed. Back and forth all day if I want to.
AndI always thought it worked the other way around. No wonder I always have trouble with my stacks.
Anyway, checked or unchecked, I get no news about a new post.

Re: Push notifications?
Bernd.
OK. So the checkbox, which changes its name depending on whether it is checked or not, is backwards. If it is checked, it reads "Subscribe Forum", but if I uncheck It a dialog comes up telling me I am now subscribed. And just the reverse for the, er, reverse.
This is all better than doing my regular job.

Either it is a security precaution so bots get confused or the code was developed in the southern hemisphere and the adaption to the northern hemisphere went south...

Re: Push notifications?
Bernd.
I just got an email informing me that I have a new message in the "Off-topic" forum. I guess clicking and unclicking that checkbox triggered a settings change,

Re: Push notifications?
It is possible to set up a daily digest of new postings.
Sign in with your username and password.
- Under your name, click the dropdown box and select User Control Panel.
- Select Digests and, in the Basics section, set up your preferences (as you can see, I selected Daily, Styled, and 8:00 AM)
- Continue down to Forums Selection, etc. making your selections as desired.
Every morning, at 8 AM local time, I receive an email with the postings from the previous day for all the forums. The volume of postings is not too large. I view this daily email as a way of learning features of LiveCode that I would not otherwise know and as a refresher in some cases. Great tool.
Hope this helps,
Bob
