This with LC 9.6.1 Indy and 9.6.2 rc 2 Community.

So: cracked open the Terminal emulator and wrote this:
xcode-select --install
and something is installing . . . let's see what happens afterwords.
Cursing Apple as this 'thing' only happened at an apparently random moment.
Yup: was able to successfully build a Macintosh standalone.
HOWEVER: it might not be a bad idea to include the details above in the PDF note that goes with LiveCode so that
'raw prawns' don't get their knickers in a twist.
