RSS or ATOM feeds of the forum.

I was inspired to look at RSS readers and thought that the forums had an RSS facility.
Searching the forum brought up such a discussion indicating that it did, even with a screenshot showing RSS icons next to the forum sections.
Alas, I see no such icons and am wondering if this feature has been turned off.

I also looked up the phpBB site and see that the current version of the board software simply needs it turned on.
Unfortunately they now support ATOM feeds rather than RSS but they would still be useful.

What do people think?

Many RSS readers have an auto-discover feature which will find the feed link for websites which have a feed but don't make it easy to find and subscribe to. In this age of "social" media and nonsense, people running blogs are being discouraged from publishing a feed link because it reduces "connection" and "interaction" (the quotation marks are shorthand for lots and lots of commentary best not gotten into here 😂) and therefore a potential loss of revenue. This includes sites which traffic in information ideal for RSS. However, most WordPress sites have a feed even though the publisher is often unaware of it because it's on by default, and a feed discovery feature can be very nice.

Just thought I would report back.
The ‘feed.php’ link worked a treat.
I mainly check mail etc on my iPad and the forum digests were a tad cumbersome.
I tried out a few rss readers and finally settled on “Reeder”.
It has a built in web browser and when reading a forum post, if I want to check out the entire thread I simply swipe the post left and the forum/thread is displayed. Simple and well integrated.
The only downside concerns code blocks.
It seems that line returns do not survive the feed read and appear as a single line.
It can be scrolled to view all of it but it is a bit of a hassle. Thankfully if I am interested in the code a simple swipe to the left will openthe actual forum post in the Reeder browser so all is not lost.

I'll bet Reeder would appreciate a bug report on that. Code blocks are easy to overlook when writing an RSS parser, but not hard to accommodate.

Actually, there is a button at the bottom of the screen when reading a post that reloads the post showing everything. the code blocks appear as code blocks. So my issue is solved. Unfortunately there is no help manual or user guide for reeder so it is a case of just trying out different things.

If you're on mac or iOS i can warmly recommend the venerable NetNewsWire - some of you may remember from system7/8. It's now rebuilt for MacOS/iOS and picks up the feed automatically from the forum... Free and opensource: https://netnewswire.com

Interestingly it also has the 1-line code-block issue, but there is a 'reader view' button that not only fixes this but shows the entire thread (without this toggled off, you only see the current post, but code block is collapsed to 1 line)

Yep, that they are... i stuck with NetNewsWire because it was one of my favourite apps pre-OSX, and was delighted to see it reborn...
