Marty McFly's middle name is Metacard

Post by richmond62 » Sun Jun 23, 2019 2:10 pm

At the risk of sounding absolutely ridiculously antique and retro . . .

. . . someone once told me about explorers in Siberia in the 19th century surviving
by sucking the marrow from mammoth bones that had been frozen in the permafrost
for 10,000 years.

Beyond that, Yuka's cells may have some use:

https://phys.org/news/2019-03-mammoth-f ... -life.html

"The project by an international team took cell nuclei from a well-preserved mammoth
discovered in 2011 in Siberian permafrost and placed them into several dozen mouse egg cells.

"Of those, five displayed the biological reactions that happen just before cell division begins, said Kei Miyamoto, a member of the team at Kindai University in western Japan."

Now, while reviving a mammoth to ride round downtown Chicago might be slightly
foolish, a spot of mammoth fat might well serve to grease the axles of your Lamborghini.

Oh I got the message, I'd just rather do it to "Give me land" or "Three Jerks in a Jeep" or "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" is all

I'll take a look at the flick, but I am usually *very* finicky with the types of video I'm able to tolerate. My tastes in movies generally ranges from the 30's to early 70's, and leans towards films like "The Thin Man" and like that. I believe the art of actually acting has declined from where it was shortly after vaudeville :P

"Three Jerks in a Jeep"

Um; is that better than "Two Jerks on the Livecode Forums"?

I mean . . . talk about 'off-topic' . . . :D

Words of the time frame, when we had a much more freely spoken language and a lot less thin skinned people to hear it. The "good 'ol days" weren't always so good, but I frequently miss them <sigh>

Currently weighing in at 100 kilogrammes, and having managed
(at last, d*mn it) to lose 10 by taking up bicycling again . . . I am not
worried about how thin skinned I am; more about how
thick the fat layer is below the skin.

I'm managing about 10 km each day in, currently, about 35 degrees
Celsius and 98% humidity.

The trick comes (in 4 parts)

1. Set my wife off on her bike 10 minutes in advance of me.

2. Fantasize about her meeting a big, butch, muscular toyboy.

3. Fantasize that she, for some quite inexplicable reason,
is a gross materialist.

4. Make d*mn sure I catch up with her in time to give the
non-existent big, butch, muscular toyboy a biff on the nose
(I sure as h*ll hope he is non-existent; otherwise I have
no chance whatsoever).

and of course; the inevitable Number 5 to the 4 parts:

5. Wish I was as fresh and as healthy as MacOS 10.4 was when it was released.

Luckily, despite all this, my wife is sufficiently loving/tolerant/daft (pick your adjective)
to keep putting up with me. :D

Now for the, even more inevitable bitchy comments about LiveCode . . .

I have a very low income, mainly because I live in the fag-end of Europe
where money does breed like rabbits (but, also, because I am a bad businessman).

Now, "back in the day" (what is it about that phrase that really sets my teeth on edge?)
I donated rather more than I could manage to the LiveCode Kickstarter.

MOST of which has got swept by the wayside all for the sake of
flaming Filemaker. :(

There's a syllogism for that.

LC needs resources to thrive.
LC users are cheapskates, where FM users are accustomed to paying big bucks.
Ergo...

Any income from anywhere is applied to all of us, so in the long run you're gaining.

Could you please give the grounds for such a judgement?
This is offending everybody who ever gave LC monetary or non-monetary support for nothing.

Sorry to offend, I should have said "most users in general" are cheapskates, or better, "most users use the free product." I myself have given a great deal of money to the company over the years, so I have probably insulted myself too. And while donations of time are very much appreciated and valuable, they don't pay the bills.
