In 2014 I posted a message about a Maths teacher who turned me onto computers (in 1976),
"Bonehead" Barker:

I am happy to announce that I have tracked down a photo of the man (from 1976), and discovered
his first name:

Now I'm going to try and track the man down and thank him!

Everyone needs a mentor. You are never too powerful or successful to have one and they can benefit you at any age. There will always be people who can offer you valuable advice and guidance in different areas of your life, and at different stages of your career- but the key is to find them and of course to ask them. Having a mentor who contrasts with you in other ways can also be beneficial. They will see things from a different perspective and can push you out of your comfort zone. You really want a mentor that will encourage you to consider things you might never have even thought of.

My second mentor was the late Alexander Taylor Annal of Myres on South Ronaldsay in Orkney.

My older son is named after him.

If I were a spammer, I see two potential mentors in this thread.
elissaamsmart or Robert Neale, could you give me some hints as to how to go about making placeholders on different forum sites to seem on topic and disguise the intent to populate with spam links.

I may repeat myself, but I have an eye on EVERYTHING here in the forum!

These posters are on my "watch" list and will be history when the post something unrelated to LC next time! Like some others in other threads... 8)

This is in the "Off-Topic" section. So, the fact that it is only marginally related to LiveCode should not matter.

Oh, and, by-the-way, if Bonehead Barker had not mentored me in 1975
I would have never got interested in LiveCode: Duh, see: a connexion. 8)

Mind you Robert Neale's post looks like a copy-paste from some sort of sententious rule book
for boy-scouts from round about 1930.

I would have appreciated your mentors Richmond. It's the posts from elissaamsmart and Robert Neale that look spamplanter material.
