Hello everyone

Post by AJPhoenix » Tue Mar 26, 2013 11:58 pm

Hi everyone, just discovered livecode a few days ago, just thought id introduce myself, been doing web dev for a while, a long time, dabbled in php and mysql, css, quite keen on design and enjoy doing educational sites, games and media sites.

Looking to learn a new language and stumbled upon livecode, cross platform, easy to understand, sounds great, but is there any where i could try it out as a demo and see if its fitting for me? maybe a 30 day trial or so?

Well, its in the process of going dual license commercial and open source. Until the first Open source release yo can go to runrev.com, go to the store and use a trial for.. well not sure what the trial length is, but should be long enough for a pretty good test. And hopefully the first open source release will occur pretty soon. Got my fingers crossed that its sooner rather than later.

Will there be any benefit of choosing the commercial license over just waiting for the open source license? I couldn't find a trial on the store unfortunately.

From the Home page there is a big sign that says "Sign Up for Special 60 day Trial Here"
Can't see how they could have made it easier.

Hello AJPhoenix and everyone else for that matter...

I have dabbled in lots of stuff and various platforms over the years...

Last time I really worked with anything substantial was HTML/JavaScript/PHP/MySQL/ColdFusion for web projects about a decade ago.

With this LC OpenSource version I decided to get back into coding for some near and dear projects that have been on the shelf for a while. Stacks and Cards oh my!

I remember playing with HyperCard back in the day on a Mac Plus... :)

I'm really interested in the ability to do cross platform stuff for Windows and Linux mainly, but it's nice to be able to do Apple and smart phones too.

So, I guess I'll just say hello here as well, and eventually post some questions down the road after I play around with the editor for a while.
