REvlets stopped working in Lion

Post by lumpo » Thu Aug 25, 2011 7:48 am

Can't find another (appropriate) forum, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Since Lion, rev lets seem to have stopped working - Safar1 5.1 and Firefox 5.x. I can't find a solution on the web.
Any ideas as I don't want to have to do a crash course in JS/CSS3 etc

Hi Lumpo,

The current version of the RevWeb plugin is 32-bit only, hence obsolete. I think you're out of luck, unless you can your browser as 32-bit.

Kind regards,

Thanks MArk
Do you know what the timeline for a new web engine is? Or is Android mania going to rule?

Thanks
L

Hi L,

I haven't heard from RunRev about revweb for years.

Kind regards,

Hi L,

I reported about this as early as February this year. (http://forums.runrev.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7028)
I'm really pissed off that they haven't fixed this yet.

I bought Live Code for the revWeb feature and it doesn't work. The revWeb hasn't been updated for years while Firefox has had maybee 20+ updates.

And they still do promote revWeb on the products page!

Hi…

Revlets will run under lion, if you run them in the 'stainless' web browser… I have just checked again and my revlets are running under OSX 10.7.1 Get stainless from http://www.stainlessapp.com/ and then try this in the 'stainless' web browser … http://www.ihouse.on-rev.com/gemetest/

be well

Dixie

Indeed, Sainless works! Very clever little app. Thanks, Dixie. Unfortunately, it isn't part of the Mac OS X default configuration. I don't think I can ask people to install the RevWeb plugin and a different browser. Most people refuse to install an additional plugin, especially in companies and schools, not to mention an additional internet browser.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Firefox 3.6.19 = version of July 11th 2011, runs Revlets on MacOSX 10.6.8 also, whereas Safari 5.1 on the same OS version sadly does not.

Kind regards

Bernd

Well...this has fizzled out. From what I gather it's not just a lion issue it's new browsers. I can't get rev lets working in safari, firefox or chrome.

As someone else posted, this is a nonsense considering this is one of the platforms.

Does anyone have experience with real studio web? I have an enterprise license but haven't really done anything with it. The need for web apps might drive me to this.

Note that becoming some sort of JS CSS3 aAJAX BLUNDERER isn't likely to transpire :(

Would it be worth seeing if run rev replies I wonder?

I have also been affected by the lack of progress with this. However, it isn't Runrev's fault that mobile has introduced more operating systems and browsers to cater for.
Unless you have control over the environment and the computers being used for your revlets, my advice would be to forget using them.
I did a lot of Adobe Director Shockwave work 5-10 years ago when the average computer user didn't mind installing browser plugins; shockwave use has dropped dramatically because people can't be bothered installing even a well known plugin like shockwave.
Now computers are an appliance, people expect them to just work...
It doesn't help that Apple has convinced many people that browser plugins, ( ie Flash) are bad...

cheers
Paul
