i think most laptops will run LC effectively. It's basically your preference.
The only thing is if you want to write apps for iOS (maybe even macOS as well?), you need a mac.

Of course that may not be your plan at all, but if potentially it is in the future, think about it.
You could look at the MacBook air (with the latest M2 processor), it's in the price range you need and is a decent machine. The M2 comes with a slightly larger screen than the older (ie cheaper) M1 version.

Otherwise, any Win10 capable laptop would do... i've run LC on relatively low spec HP work laptop with no issues (Win10).

I have a 'cheap as chips' ASUS that cost me 300 Euros that I installed Xubuntu on; never a backward look with LiveCode.

Sure, LC’s requirements are low indeed… but as we don’t know the OPs plans was just pointing out that if at some point planning to do iOS probably instead invest in a Mac.

However having a budget Of $1500 for a gaming laptop suggests that maybe it’s being purchased with other uses in mind ;)

Stam.

Is that so? I thought one could develop anywhere and publish anywhere. I develop on a Mac, but most of my output is delivered as a Windows standAlone.

Yes, LC needs Xcode to be installed to create iOS apps and that only runs on a Mac!

You don't need to worry about LiveCode's requirements which aren't all that much. You need to look into what's going to work best for your video editing, which is much more demanding. If you do a seach something like "recommended windows laptops for video editing" you'll find advice tailored specifically to those needs. Good luck!

iOS is “special” ;-). As Klaus says you need Xcode to do iOS, this is certain and it is not limited to LC… other platforms like XOJO have the same issue, although the more enterprising b4x team have come up with a build-in-the-cloud solution (I think).

What I’m less sure about is if u need Xcode to build for MacOS on Windows. I seem to recall someone needing to install Xcode for that too, although may be mistaken. I develop on Mac and like you mostly for Windows targets, and already have Xcode installed, so can’t tell if it would fail if Xcode was missing…

You do NOT need xCode on Windows or Linux (how would you install it anyway?) to build Macintosh standalones.

You can definitely build a Mac standalone without a Mac, but I am now wondering whether these days xCode (and therefore a Mac) is required to notarise and staple it?

Mac standalones I have run off on Linux run
perfectly well on MacOS 12.5 beta.

Of course, the dictatorial so-and-sos at Infinite Loop
will not touch a standalone like that with a ten foot
pole . . . as SparkOut sez.

If I find the money to pay for it, that'll be incredible.

Yes that’s fine and no disagreement. But the OP had a bugdet of €1500, even though (s)he has deleted the original post.

You’d blow that and more just on the three monitors…

And to Richmond’s comments above…. MacOS <> iOS.
If you want iOS you will need a Mac even for software emulation.

While this may be an interesting discussion the planted placeholder needs to be removed as, presumably,
that is so that person (bot ?) can wiggle its way back into these forums with more harmful stuff at a later date.
