iOS SDK Location Issue

Post by tolistim » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:23 pm

Hi Folks,

Just starting to dig into Mobile apps and I'm trying to set up the iOS SDK location. I only have the 4.x SDKs available as that is all that Apple now provides in Xcode. However, when I select the 4.3 SDK location, LiveCode tells me that "the chosen folder is not a vsalid iOS SDK for 3.2 and later."

Guidance would be appreciated.

hi Tim,

You need to select the developer root folder. If you have a default installation, the folder is simply /Developer.

Kind regards,

I have the same message since I have downloaded from Mac Store.
"The Chosen folder is not valid IOS SDK for 3.2 and later. It must be one that ships with Xcode 3.2.4 or later."

The location is at the root of my Hard Drive /Developer.

Guys,

If you want help with this kind of problems, you really need to provide more info, such as which version of XCode, LiveCode and Mac OS X you use, what kind of computer model (particularly whether PPC or Intel) and what you have done so far to try to solve the problem. Try to provide as much relevant information as possible.

ok.

I have an Apple iMac 27" with Mac OS X 10.7.1. Proc 2.93 GHz Intel Core I7 with 8 Go 1333 MHz DDR3.
251 Go Hard Drive SSD to boot + 2 To second Hard Drive.

The Developer directory has been downloaded from Mac Store today. Xcode is version 4.1.1. It is installed on the boot hard drive, at the root /Developer.

Hi,

Do you use your administrator account to log in?

I am having the exact same problem. I try to select the root Developer folder and get the same message. I'm fairly new to this so I don't know if I am just missing the obvious or what... I am running LiveCode 4.6.3 with Xcode 3.2.6. I have reinstalled LiveCode and am currently re-downloading the Xcode dmg so I can reinstall that too. I am also logged in as an administrator and this is running on my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Just not sure where to go from here. I would love to start using the simulator with what I have coded up so far. Any suggestions?

Hi,

The same problem occurs on my MacBook Pro OS X Lion 10.7.1 • 2,66Ghz Intel Core I7 + 8 Go RAM with XCode downloaded from the MacStore (v4.1).

I have spent some time to solve a problem known by Runrev Team but they did not communicate on it, which is not fair.

You have to go to the store, log into your account, and download the latest build. Even if you have the version 4.6.3 installed, if you look to the build number, it should be 1444 instead of 1445.

After you have reinstalled the latest of the latest build, it works.

Runrev should indicate that in the documentation release or at least in the newsletter or at least in the message center that pops up every time you launch Livecode.

Regards,

Frédéric

PS : A thread has already be opened about the same problem, can you stick the information in the IOS forum for some time ?

Hi,

For now, I can only tell you that I tested LiveCode 4.6.1 and 4.6.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 with XCode 4.0.2. This works fine. I didn't get an error message when setting the path.

Frédéric, you can't put "RESOLVED" in the title if OP hasn't stated that the problem has been solved. Yes, I am using build 1445 and it is possible that this is why I didn't have any problems setting the path to the development directory. I would like to know if other people can confirm this.

Kind regards,

Some people can confirm this as another thread resolved this problem in the same manner as you can see here http://forums.runrev.com/phpBB2/viewtop ... ore#p40935.

If you update LiveCode to build 1445, it works.
I have tested on my two mac.

I reinstalled 4.6.3 last night after downloading it account from the RunRev store. I do show that my LiveCode is running 4.6.3.1445 now but I'm still getting the error. Sorry, I'm new to using a Mac and other than dumping the program into the trash, I'm not sure how to officially uninstall a program. Do I need to fully uninstall LC and reinstall? I've checked out the other thread about this issue too but not sure where to go from here.

Ok, I finally got another Xcode dmg downloaded and I reinstalled it. After doing that (and with the reinstall I did for 4.6.3 last night), it was able to select and find the SDK in the root developer folder so I am good to go and can use the simulator now. Thanks for help!
