iMac late 2013
macOS Catalina 10.15.7
LC 9.6.7 Rc2 with Pro-Pack
xCode 12.4
iPhone iOS 14.4.2
iPad iOS 15.4
Having a Mac that cannot be upgraded to OSX 11, once I updated my iPad to iOS 15 I realised that I could not test my standalone on it. No side loading, no installs using Xcode.
So, after that, I was VERY careful to not upgrade the iPhone. Even with continuous harassing Mac dialog telling me to update the iOS, several time a day.
Then, this morning, the Mac told me it could not communicate anymore to the iPhone, unless I did a small OSX upgrade. Unfortunately I pressed OK and now I cannot create iOS standalones anymore and no testing on real devices.
My only option seems to be to trow away my perfect 27" iMac and buy (which I am not ready to) a new Mac with the apple chip.
Anybody with a solution?
What a mistake...no more iOS standalone.

Ominous.
I am also on an aging iMac 27, with, of course, Intel chips. Fortunately, I guess, I only develop for desktop, but is something sinister coming even for me?
A bit dramatic, but Martin Niemoller said:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Dramatic prose aside, there are ways to trick older Macs to install newer OS's (i did that with an old mac mini some time ago). Google your particular model and see if something comes up - mostly it will work fine...
