IOS submission to App Store

Post by dalkin » Thu Feb 24, 2022 3:16 am

Howdy. Is anyone offering a service to check an App and oversee its submission to the Apple App Store on behalf of the client?

That's a really good question - do update us if you do get help with this...

@dalkin, I tried sending you a PM regarding this a few days ago, but not sure if it reached you?

So, I’m available for discussing possible ways to offer this service.

There is one basic condition though, to even start talking:
You must possess an iOS deployment license for LiveCode.

I do, of course, but I would be in breach of the LiveCode End User License Agreement if I offer deployment services to a client who doesn’t. (I know this thread will not escape the hawk-eyes of Heather, and even if so, I would always honour the agreement anyway.)

If I were to help with a significant part of the app development too, then it would be another matter of course, as it would then be a development team cooperation.

As soon as the app is built, respecting the above, there is no problem helping with the submission to AppStore.
Apart from, of course, all the obstacles Apple may (will) put up, and the fact that nobody can guarantee final success…

Anyone interested in exploring this further can email me at andreas@wheninspace.se

FWIW, we have a new tool that is in late beta that will allow almost any version of Mac and Win to create iOS and Android apps without having to have a developer license.

Apps will run through a player. You would be free to create as many apps as you like, update them as frequently as you like, and completely circumvent the App Store process.

We call it Appli. Short for Appli-cations. It is in late beta and will be launched at the LiveCode conference. Canela has partnered with LiveCode to make this software. Thus, it is safe to use.

If you are interested in testing the beta, please join us by visiting our super stealth site at Appli.io. Ssh, don’t tell anyone about our project unless you want to.

You can view our documentation here.

Hi Mark,

That looks really cool. And the documentation is very clear, concise, and well written. Hat off to Andre.

Kind regards
Bernd

@Mark, after reading the Appli documentation, which is indeed very promising, I don't get how the Apple Store license is avoided.

If it is about loading the App in your device I guess there is no need to have a license to do so.

If it is broader than this as I would imagine I wasn't able to find any explanation as how this is going to work in order to allow users to download/install the Appli generated App into their device.

What am I missing'. Could you please clarify?

Thanks in advance
Simon

Hi Simon,

We made a player app that will be available in both the Google and iOS app stores. The player is capable of playing any app made in Appli. Each app has a unique eight char code that looks like this: ABAB-CDCD

The user would open the player app and enter your unique app code. Your app would download to the player and is ready to play.

The user may add as many Appli apps to their player. Once the player learns the code, it will draw an icon for the app. It is easy for the user to use the apps they want. They can arrange and delete the apps on their screen as they see fit.

As a developer, this form of distribution allows you to see what your app looks like on an actual phone.

Thanks Mark, understood it now.

Another question, will the App work offline or does the device need to be connected to the Internet. I'd bet there is no need to be on-line but just to be sure...

Also, how do you plan to monetize your solution?

Great idea, dealing with the Apple Store is really a pain and Google Play is marching on the same path

Regards
Simon

Hi Simon,

All apps will work offline. Any saved data during the offline period will automatically sync once the app has access to the internet again.

We will charge a monthly fee that will allow developers access to LiveCloud and Appli on the same account and bill. As many do today, you are free to make apps with LiveCode and LiveCloud. You are also free to create apps in Appli with the same account.

This year, we will add more region support in Europe, Asia, and the south of the equator.

I am glad you like the idea. We are excited to see what people think once they have time with Appli. We are releasing our MVP (minimum viable product) in just a few weeks. There are great plans to continue improving the technology as we move forward.

Thanks a lot for the kind words about the documentation, folks. I really appreciate it. Please, feel free to send feedback to me. I'm working on more docs right now, and I hope you enjoy them as well.
