App Store review guideline 2-1

Post by jaui » Tue Dec 29, 2020 8:53 am

Hi,

please help:
I used LC 9-6-2 - rc-1 Indy
SDKs 14-1
Xcode 12-1
The app runs perfect on Win, Mac, Android and even iOS Test Flight, nevertheless from App Store review I get:
Guideline 2-1 - Performance - App Completeness
We were unable to review your app as it crashed on launch.

Does anybody know what to do or does App Store just don't want LiveCode?
Thanks,
Rainer

Not crashing sounds like a good starting point.

Which iOS devices and OS versions have you tested on? Can you reproduce the crash?

Once we find the cause we can submit a big 3 report for the team and find a workaround that doesn't crash for you.

I tested it 1. with my Mac bigsur 11-1, Simulator version 12-1, simulated was an iPhone 8, iOS 14-1
2. with Test Flight on my iPad iOS 12-5
3. with Test Flight on my iPhone iOS 14-3
No, I am sorry I can't tell you where and when my app crashed, because it never crashed on any of my device.

Could it be possible, that my app crashed at the App Store Review because I use "letterbox" in the code?

I have been told, that they review in a production environment, not on a simulator (the only way I can test right now).

Well, all we know is that the app wouldn't launch at all. Many of us have apps in the App Store, so using LC isn't the problem. But the version might be, you're using a very early development release. Can you build with LC 9.6.1 stable?

No problem, I can try 9-6-1. But I shall wait with that for a while, because right now I got good news from App Store Review that "Your app...has been approved for beta testing", whatever that means for the entire process.

Thank you anyhow for your help till now! - I Shall keep you informed how it is going on.

Did you change something and re-upload? Apple doesn't usually test the same app twice.

I can build with 9-6-1 however then you need SDK 13-5 which is coming with Xcode 11-5. And I got a rejection because I did not use the latest Xcode, which is 12-1. So I submitted again with 9-6-2 RC-1 and Xcode 12-1 , and as you say, most probably now I will get a rejection because I submitted the same app (however with different builds) three times. - And in the meantime my app ist still running perfectly in dozens of tests on half a dozen of devices with any iOS software, simulated and physical with the approved BetaVersion.

Hi, how did the story end? Did you manage to get the app aproved finally? Thanks for sharing any insights. I am in the middle of that process, being afraid of big daddy apple not wanting my app. oliver
