Unable to Test my App on an iPhone

Post by lrieber » Sun Nov 29, 2020 7:12 pm

Hello all,

I am trying to test out an iOS app on an older iPhone SE running iOS 13.3.1. I've successfully tested the app on the Xcode simulator (by clicking the "Test" button in LiveCode). I am able to successfully save the standalone iOS app. I can go into Xcode and select the iPhone SE cabled to my computer in "Window > Devices and Simulators." But when I drag the standalone iOS app into the "installed apps" section of "Devices" screen, I simply get a message "Unable to install [the app]."

Here are the specifications on my software and computer:
  • MacOS version: 10.15.2
  • Xcode version: 11.4
  • LiveCode Indy version: 9.6.0
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lloyd

Have you created the required profile and certificate in the App Store developer portal?

Hi Jacque,

Yes, I created both in Apple's developer's portal. And, I have an update. I was trying to test it on my old iPhone SE because my iPhone 6S is running iOS 14.2. My version of Xcode - which I'm using to match my version of LiveCode and my MacOS operating system - gave me a message that it was not compatible with iOS 14.2.

But, after I posted my request for help yesterday, I went ahead and tried putting my app on my iPhone 6S and, amazingly, it worked!

So, my suspicion now is that either the hardware of the iPhone SE or iOS version 13.3.1 is the culprit.

I still would like to get this app to work on the iPhone SE, so any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks - Lloyd

And your iPhone SE is also added to the portal and added to the profile?
