I tried the demo from http://livecode.com/livecode-7/resolution-independence/ and run it in the iPhone-Simulator, but I don't seems to work - why?

The professionality and success of your app depends on you, not the language you use to write it. See Scott Rossi's work, he does almost all of it in LiveCode:
http://www.tactilemedia.com/ Click the "Portfolio" link to see what he has done, which includes work for some prominent businesses.
He also provides a very nice iOS theme set that autosizes correctly, which you can use in your stacks.

Did you see, that the most of this work is UI-design and NOT programmed in LiveCode?jacque wrote:The professionality and success of your app depends on you, not the language you use to write it. See Scott Rossi's work, he does almost all of it in LiveCode:

I know and own tmControl2.
And NO, that's not true. The language you use sets the limits of your possibilities.

It's so typical here, that everybody wants to blandish everything about LiveCode.

It shouldn't be surprising to see any forum for a software filled mostly with people who enjoy using it. After all, those who prefer other tools are probably spending their time elsewhere.
At the moment I see no reason to close this thread. I've been participating in online discussions since literally before the Web was invented, and I've never seen any software that didn't have critics. Personally, I feel such discussions can be useful as they provide an opportunity for our community to distinguish itself by maintaining an open and professional dialog.
Criticisms of LiveCode are welcome here to the degree that they're focused on productive outcomes. Sometimes these lead to feature requests to make the toolkit ever easier to use, other times they may yield discussions of how to use existing features well to get the results the poster is looking for.
Aside from blatantly illegal activity (spam, piracy, etc.) the moderators of the LiveCode Forums, in contrast to many other forums, generally err on the side of permissiveness. In all the years this forum has been around I've seen only two threads closed, and AFAIK none have had posts deleted.
If any member here feels a post is inappropriate please report it to the moderators for review using the Report icon (the warning triangle) included in the header of each post, per the Forum Guidelines:

Back on topic:
The core question here is about finding examples of high-quality apps made with LiveCode. Several examples have been provided, but the OP has since clarified that specifically only apps in the Top 100 lists at the iOS app store are of interest.
Both the LiveCode and Xamarin showcase pages include well-crafted and profitable apps, but neither currently features any that can be found in the Top 100 lists in the iOS app store. Out of 1.2 million apps there this isn't surprising, and as use of both tools continues to increase we can expect that to change over time.
If the OP is looking for a specific kind of app I'd be happy to see if we can find such an example.
If instead there are questions about using a particular set of features well, like perhaps resizing, opening a new thread for that may be ideal.
You'll rarely find requests for example code explicitly refused or earnest questions left unanswered for several months, as I've seen on other forums.
The members of this forum can be enormously helpful in learning to get the most out of LiveCode.

For the benefit of anyone else who may come across this thread interested in Mr. Rossi's work, I've known Scott for many years and he tells me at least half of those works were indeed built with LiveCode.DevBoyLars wrote:Did you see, that the most of this work is UI-design and NOT programmed in LiveCode?jacque wrote:The professionality and success of your app depends on you, not the language you use to write it. Here are a few I know of offhand from that list that were delivered in LiveCode:

An older demo reel he posted to YouTube has even more:

Among the more recent works he's built in LiveCode for other publishers include:

This one that was described in a RunRev newsletter did ok, at least in Germany where it was developed for.
HTH
For more info, see: http://newsletters.livecode.com/march/i ... tter3.htmlThe App was released by the client on March 18th and appeared in the top charts 24 hours later, making rank 2 in the children category and rank 24 in overall paid apps of the German App Store.

I have a community advocacy meeting scheduled for next week with Steve Crighton, LC's web architect, and one of the items on that agenda will be to put into place a better system of redirects so older bookmarks get routed to their current replacements.

I don't know why so much time is wasted answering the posts of a person that is clearly NOT a developer or someone interested in learning.
Try it , learn, and if its not for you, thats ok.
I myself have some projects coming alone with spectacular visuals and functionality
i program 16 hours a day , ask a lot on the forums, read a lot on the forums.
and i started only 4 weeks ago. My options where learning xcode, xamarin or livecode
decided on livecode and am not going back
got my Indy license (to support run-rev) and hopefully will be able to start helping users of the forum soon.

Re: Is there any really successfully App build with LC?
One way to minimize the impact of threads you feel may not merit much discussion is to let them lie dormant in the past where they become increasingly less relevant. Some forums disallow thread necromancy, but here we have very liberal policies.
To answer your question, when a question is posted in any forum, a good-natured community will seek to address it. The OP's intentions may not always be evident at the start, and even later on it's usually good to avoid making assumptions about intentions in general. And if nothing else, unless we were to go down the murky road of censorship by deleting posts (something I'd prefer we avoid except in clear cases of spam or illegal activity), any thread posted here will remain in place for others to read in the future, just as you've done here. Hopefully newcomers to this thread will see for themselves that the question is well answered, and that our community is as patient as it is helpful.

Hey all - this is a 5 year old thread and I know there is an official “stories” link on mothership’s website...
But wondering what else people have done with LC? Any proud commercial/non-commercial devs wanting to show off their efforts? (Not just on iOS!)

Hi stam,
take a look at my "references" page, not really uptoqte, but shows some of the works I have been doing with LC and its ancestors:
https://major-k.de/refs.html
Hint: the first app "SAKRET" has been removed from the app store some time ago from my customer.
Best
