Touch Screen Scrolling?

I apologize ahead of time, Ive been up for way too long and am prob. missing something here but I am having issues figuring out how to do this. I would like to be able to have multiple buttons on the screen (320x480) iPhone screen, and be able to scroll the screen down to reveal the buttons below the viewable screen area. I have attempted to place a scrolling text field, group the field and add buttons to the field but have had no luck with this option. I assumed I could make the field transparent, add all my buttons to the field and use that method to scroll the screen down to reveal the buttons but for some reason this is not working for me. Can anyone point me in the right direction for documentation regarding this?
