Revolution 2.9 Improves Usability, Capability

Leopard support, better output among new features

April 4, 2008 (EDINBURGH, Scotland) - Today, Runtime Revolution released Revolution 2.9 for Windows and Mac OS X, a major new version of the leading cross-platform, rapid application development tool based on natural language. The new version improves support for Mac OS X Leopard, adds enhanced control of printing options, improves handling of the clipboard and drag-drop functions.

Revolution 2.9 ships with a brand-new User Guide about twice the size of previous editions, with more examples and walkthroughs, plus in-depth sections on using the deeper features of the product. New users will have substantial resources for building just-in-time business utilities, database front-ends, professional reports, and Web mashups. Additionally, this version includes more than 500 new fixes and enhancements in response to user feedback.

Unlike other programming languages, which rely on obscure symbols and complicated structures, Revolution uses plainly understood words and phrases for the bulk of its operations. This enables casual users to ramp up quickly. Advanced users save considerable time because a single Revolution command performs the equivalent work of pages of other kinds of code. And all users are able to return to the programs they've written months earlier and understand them at-a-glance.

Revolution is the only development tool that enables anyone to create true standalone applications for:

* Mac OS X, including Leopard
* Mac OS Classic
* Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and 98SE
* Modern versions of Linux

The Revolution architecture enables users to write their application using the platform of their choice and deploy to virtually every desktop computer in use today with a single command. The applications - unlike Java and other environments - automatically assume the correct appearance and behaviors of the target operating system, without special effort on the part of the programmer.

Revolution 2.9 is available in two editions:

* Revolution Enterprise (US$999), intended for professional programmers
* Revolution Studio (US$399), ideal for consultants and business managers

Revolution Media (US $49), for beginners and hobbyists, will be available shortly.

Previous owners of Revolution enjoy a discount on upgrades. Those with active maintenance agreements receive this version free-of-charge.
