[ ANN ] Coordinated Release

Post by LiveCode_Panos » Wed Apr 29, 2026 3:19 pm

Dear LiveCoders,

We are pleased to announce the release of LiveCode Classic 10.0.5 RC-1, LiveCode Create Classic 11.0.0 RC-1, and LiveCode Create DP-12.

These three releases contain several bugfixes and new features, including support for building against the iOS 26.x SDK, which is now a requirement for submitting iOS apps to the AppStore.

You can find more details on the bugfixes and improvements of these releases here:

https://livecode.com/blog/coordinated-launch-2026

You can find these new releases in your LiveCode account area.

Enjoy!

Kind regards
The LiveCode Team

Should this announcement be taken to read that LC 10.0.5 will be the end of the line for any LC that can exist independently of CREATE?

That's funny: I thought the team were ready to respond to valid questions, And this question is, actually, extremely important.

I don't think they visit this site, other than to post announcements. Try their new server https://discourse.livecode.com

That in and of itself is sufficiently informative.

ricmond62, I don't think this announcement necessarily means the end of standalone Classic. The way I read it, they're just releasing three branches at once for testing — it's a coordinated launch, not a sunset. iOS 26 SDK support is a big deal if you're submitting to the store, so that alone justifies the new RC. I've been using Classic 10 for years and I'm not seeing any signs they're pulling the plug. That said, if you want a more direct answer from the team, their discourse server is where they actually respond to questions these days. Emily-Elizabeth's suggestion to go there is probably your best bet.

For what it's worth, I don't think this announcement means Classic is ending. The coordinated release name just means they're syncing the builds. Classic 10 is still its own branch. Create is a separate product. They'll keep maintaining Classic as long as people use it. Richmond62, I'd check the release notes for clarity, but my read is that Classic isn't going anywhere. That said, I wish they'd respond here more often. It's frustrating when valid questions like yours go unanswered. I've been using LC since version 4, and while Create is interesting, I'm not switching until Classic is fully deprecated. For now, I'm sticking with what works for my existing projects.

From the Livecode FAQ https://livecode.com/faq
How long will LiveCode Classic be supported?
LiveCode Classic will receive maintenance releases only until 2027, when it will be end of life.

Yes and no.

The maintenance of a separate installation for 10 is going away sometime in 2027.

The Classic IDE remains supported as an option in the v11 package.

Which, of course, means getting entangled in LC's odd licensing arrangements.

I think gregward74 was cut off, but I agree: this coordinated release doesn't spell the end of standalone Classic. The team has explicitly said Classic will continue as a separate version, and Create is just the new naming for the feature release line. So Classic 10.x will keep getting updates, and Create is the future-oriented branch. No need to panic.

I think the announcement is clear: Classic 10.0.5 is still being released, so they’re not dropping it yet. The Create line is for new projects, but Classic will likely see maintenance releases for a while. Richmond62, I wouldn’t worry too much. Also, Emily-Elizabeth is right that the team rarely checks this forum anymore; the discourse site is where real discussion happens now. That said, I'm glad they still post here. The bugfixes and iOS 26 support are welcome.

'Richmond62' doesn't give a damn as he has already defected.

He does give a damn about the fact that certain LC people he cared about in the past seem to have gone seriously wrong, lost their moral compass, and are now in a bottomless pit.

He does give a damn though at what looks as a concerted load of crap from some sort of bot doing a mashup of previous postings from as long as 10 years ago.

Now you mention it...

gregward74, I'm one of the moderators here:
You joined yesterday and already have over 15 postings consisting mostly of summaries of older stuff from this forum.
AND you answer more than ten year old questions. What's up?

I will give you until tomorrow to proof you are a real user of Livecode or you will get deleted! Got me?
