Post by roeyliat » Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:16 pm

Hi
I have an IOT device that connect to the mobile with ble
I am testing is stability and when working with the mobile and it device the ble connection is lost
Restart of the app is making the connection again (automatically paired )
But it looks like the phone or app is closing the connection after ~120 minutes

What OS are you testing? If it's Android, and you're on the latest OS version (10) this seems to be a universal problem. There are reports of Bluetooth headphones, door locks, and other IoT devices randomly losing their connection. This wasn't an issue in Android 9.

Some manufacturers are also too aggressive in shutting down apps in the background (Huawei is notorious for that.) I've set Bluetooth not to be optimized for battery saving but it still happens.

Do you have something official that said that?
I need to presume it ti the regulation department :)

Nothing official, but I keep up with the Android news feeds and there have been a lot of complaints about Bluetooth headphones losing connections. Following the initial release of Android 10, Google issued some fixes in their monthly patches, but they weren't completely reliable for me with other BLE devices. And non-pixel phones may never get those patches anyway, depending on the manufacturer. My Huawei tablet gets almost no patches at all.
