Academic Use Case #3

Post by richmond62 » Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:28 pm

A professor at the University of Plovdiv, in Bulgaria is doing some research into
the frequency of various terms in the various redactions of Paisii Hildendarski's works
and asked mt to run up a frequency analyser for her.

This is a comparatively simple exercise, and one that LiveCode is well suited to.

What follows are the HELP screens:

While long-term, professional programmers may turn their noses up at these
very simple programs, LiveCode provides exactly the right environment to
run them up rapidly to serve the needs of academics for data mining who
are either intimidated by more sophisticated packages, or do not need them.

This professor told me that a data-mining tool she had been offered was so complex
she felt she would have to spend about 3 months just getting used to it and working
out exactly how to get it to serve her requirements.

Searching for the frequency of истории in Paisii Hilendarski's История славянобългарска.
