Imitation Game

If you go to the HyperNext webpage:

http://www.tigabyte.com/default.html

You can download HyperNext for either Macintosh or Windows free of charge.
You can also download a large number of sample projects:
HyperNextprojects.png

A wonderful way of learning how to do a few useful things in LiveCode would be to "copy" these projects in LiveCode.

By "copy" I mean two possibilities:

1. Run each HyperNext project in HyperNext Player and then imitate the functionality of each project without looking at its HyperNext code.

2. Open each HyperNext project in HyperNext Creator and use hints from the HyperNext code to make clones in LiveCode.

The fact that to do #2 would involve learning the HyperNext language would not be a bad thing either. 8)

Curious. It says it runs RBScript, which is now called XojoScript, so presumably it was made with RealBASIC/Xojo.

From the Xojo EULA:
You agree not to create an application that, as its primary purpose, provides your application's end user with access to XojoScript and/or the ability to directly (or indirectly through a simple wrapper) call functions in the Xojo framework. Such software creation is strictly prohibited and would therefore be a violation of this End User License Agreement. If you have any doubts, contact Xojo, Inc.

it runs RBScript
It does: a very old, antiquated version that was legit. to use in this way.

I had a discussion with the chap who made/makes HyperNext
about 4-5 years ago and he said he wasn't sure whether to stick
with the old version of Real BASIC or transition to something else.

Maybe he'll consider LiveCode Community Edition.

I'm not trying to sell LiveCode to the HyperNext chap.

He has his own reasons for doing what he's doing.

What I am doing is suggesting using his demonstration projects
he has made in HyperNext as learning exercises in LiveCode.

Also, if he uses LiveCode Community Edition ALL he would end up with is
an alternative front-end for LiveCode ; while this chap has developed his own "take"
on the HyperCard legacy that differs quite a bit from LiveCode .
