Remake of an old game...

Post by Dixie » Thu Dec 24, 2009 1:39 pm

When you have eaten too much turkey, you can't stand to watch Steve McQueen in 'The Great Escape' yet again at Christmas... the kids want to play "Monopoly', but all those cards and the paper money floating about is too much.. especially when you realize who will end up clearing it all up... have a look at

Hey Dixie,

very nice! I love the look and feel of it.

A few suggestions if I may. The game is almso a little bit big for my browser canvas. I use Firefox on a macBook with a 1280 by 800 resolution. I must admit that I have the google and stumble upon toolbar installed. This leaves a canvas size of about 600 pixels in height before I need to scroll, if I fullscreen the browser. thus a part of the link 4 grid is always chopped off and I need to scroll. :-) The second observation is, if you click to fast, the game gets a bit confused on which "coin" to place.

All the best,

Malte

Malte... Seasons Greetings.

Thanks for your observations... I made the game for the desktop and when I first started was not really thinking about using it as a revlet.. I use a Macbook but have the resolution set at 1440 x 900..

The problem with the coin 'confusion' is that I can't figure out how to suppress additional mouseUp clicks while the mouseUp handler is running... flushEvents() won't work in a revlet... you can download the stack from the webpage and run iton the desktop !

be well

I, too, enjoyed the game... and noticed the "click too fast" issue. Can you try to include a "have clicked" variable in the mouseUp handler to toggle true when clicked and then false when the chip has dropped? If it is true, exit mouseUp....

take care,
randy hengst

The game has been resized and now can be played with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 in a browser... the click 'confusion' has also, i think, been fixed... the updated stack can be found at the bottom of the webpage...

A couple of years since, and still looks very nice and has a great feel to it.

It is a great game considering the roots it is coming from. I enjoyed playing monopoly before and it was really such a pain to do that.

I should think as well as to how I could get the concept but not perform it in such a way that will resemble the original.

Great game.
