Cross-platform troubleshooting

I got my stack to work on my Mac, and the standalone to work on my Mac. I made a Linux standalone and sent it to a friend, who said it didn't work. Is there a list of things to check for cross-platform deployment? It's hard to do when you only have one platform.

Not as good as a dedicated machine, but a virtualized Linux install on your Max will help you identify most Linux issues.

I'm finally getting around to catching up on some posts here...
It's hard to say what "doesn't work" might imply, but there were some serious issues on linux that have gotten resolved with recent builds (4.5.1, 4.5.2), so that might be the trouble.
And yes, virtualbox is a wonderful tool.
