64 bit Linux and associated madness.

Post by richmond62 » Sat Oct 19, 2013 11:13 am

I agree with Richard Gaskin that RunRev do need to "sort out" a 64 bit version of Livecode for Linux.

What I do not like is the way that Ubuntu, which, like it or not, seems to be leading the way with regard to desktop PCs in the Linux sphere,
seems to be slowly abandoning its roots; that is to say producing a system that does not demand incredibly powerful machines and 64 bit processors.

Now that RunRev is producing an Open Source version of Livecode (Big Cheeres for that!), RunRev should also try to keep in mind one of the
underlying principles og GNU-Linux, however corny it may sound: "Power to the People" insofar as it should allow people on
almost zero budgets get "up and doing" with computers that richer people turn their noses up at.
