2.9 Linux Build?
Hey, it looks like we might have to change the thread subject to 2.9.x Linux Builds..!
I don't want to get anyones hopes up, and it could be ages away yet, but I just noticed that the Rev downloads page has a place holder title in there for a release 2.9 Linux version. Its not a download link yet, but sort of looks hopeful!
Just thought I'd share the hope...

Hi,
That Linux link placeholder has been there since 2.7 was released without Linux engine and the label for that link has been updated with almost every new release. It really doesn't indicate anything. Nonetheless, I do hope to see the Linux engine appear with 2.9.
Best,
Mark

Version 2.9 for Linux
Does anybody know if the new version for Linux will be able to use RevSpeak or RevInitializeVideoGrabber , etc?
Dear Wone,
If there is no commonly used speech engine for Linux, I don't see how revSpeech could be made available for Linux, as revSpeech uses the speech engine that is native to the OS. I believe that the video grabber needs QuickTime, which is not available for Linux.
Best,
Mark

Hi Gragon,
This sounds interesting. I suggest that you post enhancement requests to the quality control centre together with some links where the RunRev team will find relevant information. Maybe they can build it all in before the next Linux release.

YAY!!!
Revolution Newsletter Number 32 Announces a Linux version with Beta 2.9!!!
This is what we've been waiting for. Can't wait to try it out.
I was surprised at how well Linux rated as a platform in their user survey report. To quote the newsletter:
41% reported that Linux was essential, extremely important, or important as a deployment platform
Makes you feel like "its not just me"...
Cheers,
