Dictionary window disappeared - Lion related?

Post by giansuana » Thu Aug 11, 2011 8:32 am

Hi,
this morning, clicking on the Dictionary icon in the LC toolbar (4.6.3, build 1444) does not open the Dictionary window anymore. After a second click I get the window but all entries are gone - I get just an empty Dictionary. The strange thing: if in the script editor, I can see the Dictionary's entries below, if I mark a keyword, so they are here. But not in the Dictionary's own window...

I deleted and reinstalled LC 4.6.3 and deleted all RunRev entries in the Library without success. I can't remember to having done something unusual - I worked on a LC project yesterday evening and shut down my computer as usual after work. I'm on a Mac with OSX Lion. Perhaps this is somehow related?

Any ideas how to get back a useful Dictionary window? It's rather uncomfortable having no searchable quick help while working.

Best regards,
Gian.

Try deleting your preferences stack.

Shame on me - I completely forgot the preference stack! Problem solved, thank you very much for this hint.

Deleting the preference stack has turned out to be a bad idea on Lion:
after that it's impossible to re-enter the path to the iOS SDK because under Lion LiveCode isn't accepting the path to the SDK anymore.
Im trapped now with a again fully working Dictionary but without iOS development which is by far worse. :(

Oh dear. I had no idea. You could probably fix it by launching the previous version of LiveCode, setting the path, and then launching the newer version. All LiveCode versions share the same prefs stack, so your changes should stick. The dictionary fix you've already done should also stick.

The path problem needs to be reported. For myself, I'm waiting to upgrade until the Lion the issues are resolved. I have some other apps that suffer in similar ways, so I'm not just waiting on LiveCode.

RunRev did launch an updated build which addresses the issues on Lion (build 1445 of version 4.6.3). After installing it all my worries were gone. :-)
No idea why such a crucial update is one of the best saved mysteries on RunRev's webpage.
Anyway, thank you a lot for taking the time and your help.
