Livecode installed on MacBook pro, display extended monitor

Post by bluegrass » Tue Jun 09, 2020 8:31 am

Dear lc experts

Newbie to lc, thanks for the patient.

I have livecode installed on MacBook pro (2015)
Display Connected and extendes to external monitor.
When launching the lc app the stack "window" is always opened in the extended display.
when working without the extended display the stack is not visible and makes it impossible to work.
I tried uninstalling, reboot, install latest lc, same result.

Is this a known issue ? Any idea how to fix, workaround?
Thanks for your support

I am not entirely sure what you mean by an extended display.

I have a Mac Mini that has 3 displays:

-
LiveCode always starts up in the central one, and if I disconnect the other 2 that still happens.

HOWEVER I have set my display setup to something non-standard:

-
I turned OFF 'Displays have separate spaces': this means No menuBar on secondary monitors, but it does mean what
I would term "clear run-through" between monitors.

I'm also not entirely sure of the setup the OP is using, from the post, it looks like they are talking about at least one extra monitor, but they don't specify which stack isn't showing up on the main monitor when the other isn't present?

If that is the case, this video should be of some help.

In the video, I used 'topLeft', but you could just as easily use 'loc' or any other number of references that Lc has for coordinates. For instance,

Code: Select all

set the loc of stack "Untitled 1" to the screenLoc
works just fine for centering it on screen.

Indeed: but I wonder about revTools, revMenubar and Properties palettes.

Also, in the messageBox appears off-screen things are going to be awkward.

If that were the case, I might suggest a non Lc method, such as one of these.

thanks for the quick response, the workaround suggested by bogs actually helped. changing the display scale I was able to get the hidden window.

Usually, my Mac works without a hitch. But every once in a while, it gets a little…cantankerous.
