That is interesting, maybe they are already changing it. I was testing it in 6.5.2 and 9.6 stable, you can see for yourself 9.6 threw no error (but also didn't crash).

It is curious, since I don't see anything in the v9.6.1rc1 Release Notes which might explain the difference. Maybe I overlooked something.

More noteworthy is that neither of us is able to reproduce the hang reported in the OP. Those are especially annoying; I'd like to see if we can pin this one down.

Heh, I suspect to do that you would have to switch to OSX to do the test, this sounds like it might be OS specific as there are no beachballs in Windows or 'nix :D

True, the specific UI element used by the OS to indicate progress (or lack thereof when it hangs) will vary. But hangs can and do occur in any OS.

On this one I suspect you're right: since a hang isn't evident in non-Mac systems, worth attempting to verify on macOS.

I'll try to get some time for that today...
