Serious Issue with Rev Apps changing to windows Basic scheme
honestly!! Am I the only person having this ridiculous issue?? I have a suspicion that it has to do with windows quicktime?? I installed quark on my computer which installs quicktime. this is the only thing i can think of that might have changed anything.. but now.. when I run an app created with any version of rev after 2.9 a MONDO SUPER UBER HUGE GINORMIC PAIN IN THE ARSE BOX COMES UP AND SAYS something to the effect of "some component in your program is not compatible with your theme.. blah blah and is changing back to windows basic color scheme blah blah".. seriously??? WTF? Is Revolution compatible with vista and seven? how can I stop this from happening.. someone Puh-lease be nice and respond.. this is grinding my progrmming down to a screeching halt.. I am trying to make cool freeware apps for the open source community that work.. (thud) - snowed in in PA, and aggivated with windoze.. (sighs)

Re: Serious Issue with Rev Apps changing to windows Basic scheme
Sorrie for the typos.. It's 4am, I can't see my car under 15 feet of snow in the pocono mountains, im sleep depraved and starved and fighting to understand why I can't make my app native to windows vista and seven.. I don't have any special effects or bells and whistles going on.. just simple, nicely laid out cards.. (raises one brow thoughtfully).. The cat is looking mighty tasty and Im out of hacker food.. but I love the cat more than most people, so she stays.. no kitty fried rice... What can I forage up?...

I develop on and use the subsequent executables produced by LiveCode on both Vista and Win 7 and have zero issues as you have described. I *do* have one application that gives me that same type of problem, but it's an older proprietary application (written in Java) that has nothing at all to do with LiveCode.

The info provided from Microsoft:
-Doc-If you receive a message that some visual elements, such as window frame transparency, have been turned off, or if you receive a message that the theme has been changed to the Basic theme, one of the following might have happened:
A program that you're running is incompatible with Aero themes. When this happens, some visual elements are automatically turned off. When the program is no longer running, the visual elements that were turned off are turned on again automatically.

Hi nilefireboi,
Does your app use Quicktime in any way?
There is a lot of traffic about Quicktime and Aero. If Quark was an oldish version it may has also loaded the non Win 7 compatable version of Quicktime.
You need to elimate the Quicktime factor before moving on to other tests.
1. Unistall Quicktime, reboot. Does the problem still exist?
No -> Try installing the Win 7 version and try again.

Sill a problem?
No -> Praise the snow gods for thier help
Yes -> More coffee then....
Down to some selective detective work. I suggest you to perform clean boot on your computer.
Starting your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. This kind of startup is known as a "Clean boot."
To perform a clean boot on a computer, follow these steps.
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.
Monitor the system in the Clean Boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.
