playLoudness and "answer record" problems

I'm running under Vista and am having some problems.
I try to use playLoudness to change the volume but can't do it. playLoudness will only work if I specify a player, I can't set it as a global property. As a global property, it constantly stays at 1.
Also, whenever I try to use the "answer record" command, Revolution crashes.
Any ideas? Changing dontUseQT to true will prevent "answer record" from crashing Revolution but it still won't work.
I'm stumped...
