PNG not Printing on Windows

I have a stack which builds up a few layers of images and text in another (hidden) stack. That stack is high resolution for printing.

The layers from top to bottom are:

• 1. Some Text
  2. A PNG image (with alpha showing layers beneath)
  3. A background image (JPG)

I use snapshots of this stack to show previews in the controlling stack. This stack previews fine. Everything composites perfectly. On Mac, it prints perfectly.

On Windows, when printed the PNG layer is simply gone. It does not print at all.

Any ideas?

Does that also happen when printing to PDF?

Does the same image print from a web browser?

The PNG image prints both the PDF and from the web browser on the same system.

Further info... the PNG WAS 2800x4000 pixels.

Replacing the whole thing with a smaller PNG ends up printing OK. The new one is only about 1kx2k. It prints, and the alpha overlay works.

Is this a resolution issue of some kind? I'd really like to use very high res images... 4k x 8k would be preferred.
