Standalone (LC Community 9.5) stopped running

Post by Havanna » Sat May 25, 2024 4:20 pm

My Standalone that I've been using for some years now suddenly does not start anymore on Win 10 22H2.
It still works in the IDE, but that of course is very unpleasant.
No fundamental changes of the W10 have been made (except for automatic win updates) and noticed no weird behaviour otherwise.

What could have gone wrong?

I don't use Windows much but is that a clue? Does it still run in an earlier version?

And if it does, it may be of interest to Scotland. Even though the community versions are no longer supported, that fact may yield important information overall.

Does it start to appear and then crash? If so it's probably a printer driver issue. It's a tricky bug: https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=23659

The fix is to uninstall the default print driver and download the official driver from the printer manufacturer. Windows generic print drivers are incompatible. LC says it's fixed the problem but you'll need a recent version for that.

You could try the last Open Source version: LiveCode Community 9.6.3.
