Commercial Externals and the Community Edition

Are you developing an External using the LiveCode Externals SDK?

Commercial Externals and the Community Edition

Hi,

Does anyone have any thoughts about the implications of using closed source, commercial, externals with the community edition of LiveCode? Is it possible under the GPL? I only ask because from the runrev FAQ;
Can I use closed source libraries, components or embed LiveCode in a closed source application?
You cannot redistribute software that includes closed source libraries with the open source version of LiveCode. Anything that is part of your application must be made available under the same GPL license. However you may purchase a commercial LiveCode to do this, see below.
this would suggest that only developers with a commercial LiveCode license are going to be able to use externals which do not include source code if I understand this correctly - which is unlikely to be the case :-)

That is correct. You cannot mix closed source and open source code. If you are using closed source of any kind in your app, you need a license.
