Mobile IoT functionality (Mosquitto and MQTT)

Post by simon.schvartzman » Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:45 pm

This is a copy of a Feature Request I opened in the Quality Board (https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=22809).
If you are in agreement please add your comment on it such that it gains some traction to be included in near future releases of LC>

I guess there is no need to stress the importance of IoT nowadays and the projections for its spread in the future. Therefore it seems quite logical to expect to be able to surf that universe though our beloved Livecode tool.

Mosquitto servers are the preferred way to communicate between clients and devices and but there is no support yet for such communication in the mobile LC environment.

There is a library available (see post https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.p ... tt#p193238) but it doesn't support the mobile platforms.

According to Trevor DeVore who wrote the library it is a matter of having the library compiled for iOS and Android to work with an LCB extension and since I don't have enough knowledge to undertake such mission I'm submitting this Enhancement Request.

As I said at the beginning I guess LC needs to be playing in the IoT world and it would be better to do it sooner than later.

Best,
Simon
