(Solved) Urgently looking for livecode developer

Post by EddieLee » Sun May 10, 2020 1:11 pm

Hi all,

I’m planning on creating a few personal projects (some might turn to commercial) using livecode as my main source of programming. However I’m looking for a developer to work with me throughout the programming process. Here are a few things I’m looking for.

1. We will establish a mentor/mentee relationship whereby it allows me to learn better 1 to 1.
2. Must be proficient in android/iOS development
3. Speak fluent English
4. Based in Singapore(SEA) - optional

Pm me to discuss more details about this

Thanks!

Well, I would have replied, but from your list I really only ace #3. Sorry.

Well, I have LOTS of recommendations, on lots of topics, unfortunately, I've never attempted what your asking about. I know that Richard used to teach and mentor, but I know for sure that he isn't anywhere near Singapore, and I have no idea what his schedule is like.

The main problem recommending people isn't whether they know enough or not, but whether they have time or not. I don't dev for any mobile, nor even own any type of mobile device, and to boot I'm currently going to school myself again after half a century, but I (and everyone else that participates here) are more than happy to answer questions. Often times if your stuck, thats the best way to track it down.

There are a ton of good resources to look at, depending on your level and abilities, but I sure wouldn't recommend you go about it the way I did. I'd start now with the user guide, if you've already mastered that, then the next step would depend on which version of Lc your using. If your using the Indy version, you might take up the app acadamy (I've never looked at it, but I would have to guess it is put together logically).

If your using community / community +, you might instead take a run through Devon's course on BYU -
http://livecode.byu.edu/indexgeneric.php

For all intents and purposes, the course is laid out as a ciriculum, and it literally goes from novice to advanced. The only thing to keep in mind is that, of course, your not going to be submitting homework to BYU's servers :D

I believe Andre Garzia had a deal on his books, while I have not read one of them yet, he knows his stuff.

Mark Schonewille also is extremely knowledgeable, and has a book specifically for beginners. If any of those guys have the time, I'd certainly suggest reaching out to them or, alternately buying their books.

Aside from that, there are sporadically posts about older materials, while they are often times helpful, they would not be covering mobile anything, so in relation to your question, I'd pass on anything like that unless again, you want to boost your understanding of the basics of the language. The only exception I can think of to the preceeding are the stacks Jacque hosts at https://www.hyperactivesw.com/ under (i believe) the resources link. From many reports, those stacks are gold.

*Edit - I found the direct link to the conferences here - https://www.hyperactivesw.com/revscript ... ences.html

All that Bogs said.

Were you planning on paying for the development services? If so, several here do that for a living.

If not, then as Bogs said, you will have be satisfied merely with extraordinary help and advice, coming from eager respondents, oftentimes accompanied by working scripts. Everyone here is a volunteer.

I have mentored several people over the years, mostly youngsters. I would be glad to do this for you as well, for free. But you have to move to Manhattan.

FYI: I am mentoring Eddie now.

I confess it is a little inconvenient to travel to sinpapore several times a week via public transportation... 8)

It is spelled Klaas (pronounced: class) in dutch, Mijnheer! :-)
