"Address Not Found"

Post by jsburnett » Thu Jul 23, 2020 8:25 pm

HI,
I am new to LiveCode Hosting.
I made an email account using a domain I have rights to.
From certain email clients I get errors.
From others, such as the round box site, it works fine.
On IOS with Mail it works.
On GMAIL or YAHOO it does not.

I get the following:

Address not found
Your message wasn't delivered to dannyL@39serenityplace.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.
LEARN MORE
550 5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. Please try double-checking the recipient's email address for typos or unnecessary spaces. Learn more at https://support.google.com/mail/?p=NoSuchUser o25sor1830600ljj.42 - gsmtp

Any help or documentation on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am sorry, but i can't follow you.

You are sending from your Livecode hosting account to dannyL....., right?

Error 5.1.1 definitely comes up, if there is no email box for that address.

So it might the e-mail adrdess to which you want to send has a typo.

I see that there is a capital letter in the e-maildress. Normally servers do not differentiate between lower and upper case in e-mail addresses, although this would be technical possible. But for compatible reasons they do not.

But maybe the server of the recipient is configured to do so, although i cannot imagine it.

But you could try and use only lower letters in the email address.

But that´s just a shot in the dark.

I am sorry for not being clear. I appreciate your question and interest.

Ill try again. Thank you for your patience.

So I sent up emailaccounts using Livecode Hosting and CPanel.
See attachments below.

The domain is 39serenityplace.

The problem is sending email to this account from certain email clients.

If I send an email from this account "dannyl@39serenityplace.com" (using the Roundbox web client or IOS Mail client) to another account, say gmail, that is using the gmail website client or gmail mobile app client it is sent and recieved by the gmail email clients.
If I reply to "dannyl@39serenityplace.com" using the gmail clients, it is returned with the error.

Since I am replying and not typing out the address, could it still be a typo?
The server is the livecode hosting server, or am I making a mistake here too?

I hope this helps- thank you.

Thanks.

So I found this error.
Not sure how to correct it.

Or if this is even the issue.

Thanks John Burnett

according to https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?ac ... n=toolpage

the MX (Mailexchanger) for that domain are all Google Server. So e-mails sent to dannyl@39serenityplace.com are all sent to one of servers that are listed as MX.

According to https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?ac ... n=toolpage
the responsible name servers for your domain are ns2.wixdns.net and ns3.wixdns.net, which are also no LivecodeHosting DNS server.

And according to https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?a ... n=toolpage

the A record points to 23.236.62.147, which is a Google Server and definitely not the server Silica.on-rev.com where your account is hosted.

Currently nothing in the nameserver settings for your domain points to your Livecode Hosting account. Even if the settings in the LivecodeHosting DNS are correct. Servers outside of the LivcodeHosting farm are using the information of the DNS servers that are stored for your domain and that are currently ns2.wixdns.net and ns3.wixdns.net.

Maybe your problems are caused because of wrong DNS settings.

It is not sufficient to just add a domain to your account. You have also to change the responsible DNS servers for your domain to the name servers of LivecodeHosting which are, if i recall it correctly, ns1.on-rev.com, ns2.on-rev.com, ns3.on-rev.com.

Normally you can do this in your account at the website of your provider where you've registered your domain. If the whois information for your domain is correct, then you've registered the domain at Networksolutions. So you should have received some account information with your domain registration. Login into your account there and change the DNS servers for the domain to the above 3 ones of on-rev.com.

HTH,
Matthias

Thats very helpful,
I checked into Wix where the current domain is registered and see if I need to switch servers or can add a server.
Thank you.
Have a good weekend.
Stay COVID free too!
