Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
There was a CreateIt With LiveCode course, an App Builder Course and an updated LiveCode 8 App Building course. All were essentially following the same idea, or script. The students were to learn how to create apps similar to those provided by Apple.
The Messages app started out being their version of the "Hello World" app. In the beginning, there was the added way of posting your message to a web page. If I remember correctly, it was never a complete messaging app where someone can actually send you a message to respond to yours.
In the first course, (the CreateIt With LiveCode course??) I think that the messages app was to be completed with these more advanced concepts toward the end of the course.
However, this course ended. It just stopped. There were weekly videos, slides, Q&A sessions and even lectures from other developers/experts through webinars. I think that the company just had too much going on at the time to do the course justice. The messages app was never completed in the course and there were several other things that were not finished either.
Along came the App Builder Course. It was similar in the apps that were to be covered. I never "attended" it in real time because of the disappointment with the first course. I just downloaded the files as they were made available. It did not develop as many as the first course was to cover though.
Then there was the LiveCode 8 App Building course that updated the course for the new release of LC8.
Somewhere in the slides from one of these 3 courses, perhaps you can find what you want/need. BUT, you may need the HTML5 subscription to LC to do what you are wanting through your website. I am DEFINITELY just guessing on this though.
One thing to note, if bugs in the apps were found, the video was not re-recorded to change the mistakes. However, the pdf files or slides and the stacks usually were updated to correct the mistakes. Try following the code there rather than just off of the videos.

Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
Linda,
Thanks for responding.
I'm very confused about my purchase. I'm here in the APP BUILDING COURSE FORUM and it's as though I bought a course that was abandoned and unfinished and left to lie fallow.
I must ask LiveCode about the status of the course because I paid 75 dollars for good instruction and resources and from what I hear in the forum for the course is that it's out-of-date and gone. It appears to me that I'm the only person even asking questions. Am I the only one who is taking this course?
It's weird. Why are they accepting money if the course has been abandoned?
Thanks for your info.

Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
Hi Tom,
Probably the App Building Course is being updated for LiveCode 9.
You must keep asking for the updated course and tell them
that you could provide feedback for all lessons, while the
course is being updated.
By the way, many years ago, I paid 75 dollars too for Dan Shafer's
programming book: "Software at the Speed of Thought"
https://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Softw ... 0954656008
http://www.runrev.com/pipermail/use-liv ... 65719.html
Your investment on this Livecode's programming course
is a really good one. Just keep asking for a preview of
the updated course before it's completed and released.

You are welcome! Recently I have to grind to a halt
all my projects because health issues.
In these months, I learned that the fastest way
to recovery requires a conscious effort to keep
a positive outlook and develop an optimistic
point of view of the world that surrounds me.

More power to you, friend.
Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
I went to Spain for a while. Now I'm back. I wanted to continue with these lessons but everything except the first part is grayed out. I cannot proceed to the CALCULATOR lessons. It has the app intro video in it and I think I can access that but only because it's the same one used for the Phone Style app.
How can I access the rest of the material?

Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
I think the best recourse is to ask LC support directly. support@livecode.com

Okay, good idea.
Re: Welcome to the App Building Course Forum
But I don't see where to ask. I just get the forum.
