Recommended Cloud DBMS provider?

Post by j9v6 » Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:19 pm

Hi folks,

I'm looking at a new mobile app project which will require a multi-user cloud DBMS. Does anyone have any recommendations of who to use in 2023/2024 and what the typical costs might be? I found this blog post https://blog.back4app.com/ios-app-hosting-providers/ but I'm not sure how up-to-date it is or whether anyones deployed a LiveCode mobile app that use any of these DBMS. Any insights, experiences or thoughts would be useful.
Cheers,
Al.

Hi Al,

We make LiveCloud (please scroll to the bottom) - https://livecode.com/full-stack-app-development

LiveCloud is a cloud and local database https://LiveCloud.io made explicitly for LiveCode developers. We have data centers in various parts of the world. The same API is used when you store local data and cloud data. It deals with network outages magically by keeping data intended for the cloud locally when the network is out. It will automatically send the data when the network returns. All data is encrypted end to end. There is a free tier with no time limits.

If you are looking for examples of apps made in LiveCode that use LiveCloud, here are a few by us:

LiveCloud Manager - https://livecloud.io/get-started/
This desktop app interfaces with the LiveCloud service.

NurseNotes - https://NurseNotes.net
This service stores medical data for over one hundred K-12 schools with hundreds of thousands of student records annually. School networks are challenging as they go down often enough to stress school nurses. NurseNotes protects their data automatically.

Appli - https://appli.io
Appli is a low-code app maker built entirely in LiveCode. It uses LiveCloud to not only store app data but the app itself.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
