IOS DB connection problems

Hi everyone!
I've set up a database on an amazon server using Mysql. I can connect to it no problem when I test my app in livecode on my mac, however when I save the standalone to my iPhone 4, none of the results are returned.
I've checked on the standalone application settings (included mysql support etc) but still nothing. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, how did you solve it? It might be a coding issue on my part but I would have expected that if it works on my computer it would work on my phone too.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
