Any news on the status of sockets for iOS/Droid?

In case I missed some posting somewhere, does anybody have anything to share about the status of sockets for iOS/Droid devices? Not looking for 3rd party solutions... just from LiveCode. Have so,so many projects wanting to dive into using sockets. Thanks.
