Sockets on iOS and Android

Post by Snocrash » Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:03 am

What is the status of sockets on iOS and Android?

I am interesting in creating an IRC client for the desktop, but I would also like to create a version for mobile too. The only thing I've come across so far is the mergSocket external, but it only works on iOS. Does LiveCode already support this, and I'm just not seeing the documentation for it? If not, is this a feature that you guys plan on supporting eventually, and if so, what does the roadmap / timeline look like? Are there any other 3rd party externals for this?

I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but there is a livecode(revolution) script floating around on the web called revhttp. It has a small webserver built into it for developing and testing cgi scripts. Also, revcgi.

I tried the link but it is not active. Maybe you can contact Andre directly and see if he can upload it for you. I know I have a copy around somewhere. I'll try to find it.
