chars displayed sideways

Post by Zondervrees » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:59 am

Some weird behaviour: I have a field in which you can enter an HTML5-entity (e.g. ™), another field is set to display the char by setting its htmltext to the text of the first field. No problem with most entities, except the trademark symbol and some others which are shown sideways, under an angle of 90 degrees counter clockwise... I have no clue at all how to solve this or even what could be the problem...

Dag Fearless,

1. welcome to the forum! :D

2. Could you please post WHAT html entities are causing this weird problem?
Then we could test this ourselves, thanks!

Hi Klaus,

there's the trademark one and also the following:

‘
’
‚
“
”
„
†
‡
…
‰
‹
›

Some can't be checked (it's hard to check the orientation of a non-breaking space...). At first I thought it was any code over 8200 or so, but then the euro-sign is OK. I'm baffled. Using LC 7.0.1 on Windows 7, should still check on my Mac at home.

Kind regards,

Jan

OK, apparently the problem shows up when I use Arial Unicode MS as the typeface..., Times New Roman is no problem. So I'll try to find another sans serif which is well-behaving.
Now I'm wondering who's to blame, Windows 7, Arial Unicode MS, LC 7.0.1 or which combo of these?

kind regards,

Jan

Dag Jan,

if in doubt I always blame Microsoft, if possible! :D
