play videoClip Bug in LiveCode 8 Community 8.0 RC1?

Hello,

Sry if I am in the wrong place here, but could it be possible that there is a bug with "play videoclip" in LiveCode 8.0 RC1?
I downloaded the example of a video clip from the live code site but if i click the button to play the video, there is no video.
So I tried it with the example "3gp" video, which was already in the file but I could not import a ".3gp" video.
Then I tried a ".mp4" and a ".mov" video. None of them worked.

Hi Mark,

although MP4 videos are officially supported with the "play vc..." command,
I never could make this work at all (on the desktop).

My advice (after 17 years of working with Metacard/Revolution/Livecode):
Do not bother with "play vc...", set up a player object and be happy!

Hey,

Sry my bad, won't happen again with the double posts!

I have a question to setting a player object.
Do i still import the video as Control or do I have to have the video on my computer in the right path to play the videoclip?
I tried it with the player and it worked, but I had to write the source to the player.
The problem is that I have to give my Project to my prof and he said no externals, and if he plays it on his computer, he won't have the video(especially not in the folder I have)

Hi Mark,

unfortunately player objects only work with external files, not with imported video/audio!

Add the files via the "Copy files" tab in the standalone builder settings and access them then
in your standalone via -> specialfolderpath("resources") on ALL platforms!
