Which video container and codec resommended?

Post by Tiemo »

Hello,
when creating new videos today, which should be most compatible on as many Windows and OS X systems and beeing as modern as possible, which video container would you recommend when heading to work with LC 8.1 with DirectShow and AVFoundation?
mp4 with h.264?
Thanks for any recommendations

Hi Tiemo,

did you read this one? http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.ph ... 15#p143226

I read that you have some problems with the "Sörensen" (Sörensen, Römm pöömm pömm pömm :D ) Codec,
maybe that one helps a bit.

Hi Klaus,
yes I have read that thread, just starting my own tests, but since I have to have the same video running on Win and OS X and AVFoundation doesn't support Sorenson, I have to re-decode my videos with a modern cross-platform codec.
Thanks for the hint

sound like a good idea!

Hint:
You can "bundle" the LAVFilter package with your app, done this in the past with much success! :D
