Re: Advice & tips for array

I agree, how it's working now isn't necessarily the best method. Not the worst either, I'm sure, but it was an afterthought in my first 'for real' experimental use of LiveCode Server. :) All I really want to do now is be able to display a chart of the daily uses of the process, which seems to be aro...

Re: Advice & tips for array

Wow.
Bogs, Klaus, thank you! The code works and is blazingly fast. It's a great kick-off for me! No playing with this tomorrow as it's Feb 14th, but when I can get back to it I'll get the output sorting itself in date order. And I'll watch your video Bogs, thanks for that!

Advice & tips for array

I have a moderately large (~5000 lines and counting) text file, and I'd like to parse it and list how many entries there are for each day. It's important that I do this as efficiently as reasonably possible; the file is a simple log of the times an online LC server tool is used, and I'd like to gene...

Re: Fun With APNG & LC

I have a sound use case for creating APNGs, so it's NOT just a waste of time. One of my main 360 panorama tour builder tools uses APNGs for animated hotspot elements within a 360 scene. Currently people use After Effects or DaVinci Resolve to create these, which is insane overkill. I've wondered abo...

Create animated GIF?

I know there are pros and cons to using animated GIFs in LiveCode. But I'm wondering if it is possible to create animated GIFs? I'd love to be able to use LiveCode to generate animated assets for use in other media productions, but I haven't found anything in the documentation yet that points in thi...

Re: Forum profile is not editable

Thanks Richard, I'll do that. The alternative would be to delete my profile entirely and set up a new one, but that's really not the right solution. :D

Re: Forum profile is not editable

It's not a browser-specific thing either, or at least I get exactly the same behaviour in Safari 13.1.2 and Chrome 87.0.4280.88.

Forum profile is not editable

I've recently moved on from my university lecturer role so I need to edit my profile. But when I try to submit the changes – even just deleting data, so it's not a max char issue – the result is always "The requested page could not be found." Could someone with the keys to the forum engine room perh...

if I run AppleScript Debugger, the component will repopulate in that folder.
Out of interest, does that cause the problem to raise its head again?

Re: Is there any really successfully App build with LC?

I'm pretty happy with my Exif Fixer app, created to solve a common metadata problem that prevents Facebook (and Google, Flickr, etc.) from recognising 360 panoramic images as interactive things. It now has its own domain https://exiffixer.com where it runs as a (simpler) server app as well as offeri...

Re: Undocumented MacOS X Deployment Options

Yes, but you can't edit the plist after you've built the standalone because that will destroy the security signature. Instead, copy the plist and edit it in a text editor, then include it in Copy Files. The standalone builder will use your edited copy instead of its default one. Reviving an old thr...

Re: Urgent: app is 'broken' on download!

Success! The tutorial does need updating – there's a part that actually breaks the process if done in the suggested order, although it's simple enough to fix once you grok the issue. But hey, that's the price of progress.

Re: Urgent: app is 'broken' on download!

Oh god. The tutorial requires Xcode. I can't download Xcode because it requires me to be on 10.15 but this Mac is running 10.14. It's my backup Mac that is for running a few key 32-bit applications so I'm definitely not updating it. My Catalina Mac died at 6 days old early last week and I'm probably...

Re: Clear Browser widget cache?

Things have been complicated a bit by my new (very new) MacBook Pro dying on Tuesday and me switching temporarily to an older machine. I just realised I've been using 9.5.1 so I'll fix that pronto and see if it helps.
